Wise Center Staff Changes

After Sue Rice, Executive Director for 28 years, left in February 2006 due to medical reasons, there were a lot of changes in staff at the Wise Center. However, in May 2008, Sharon Taylor, who had been a counselor at the Wise Center from 2000 to 2005 came back to assume the Executive Director position. Sharon is excited about being back at the Wise Center, and is passionate about the work the Wise Center does on behalf of the children and families of the Wiregrass community. Here is a brief introduction to the staff at the Wise Center:

Sharon H. Taylor, M.Ed
.

Sharon received her Master’s degree in counseling from the University of Virginia. She was a counselor at the Wise Center from 2000 to 2005. She went to work with another non-profit, Family Options, and was the Director of that program until she returned as the Executive Director of the Wise Center in May 2008. In addition to her responsibilities as director, Sharon provides individual, couples, group and family counseling. Sharon is committed to the values and mission of the Wise Center. She believes that the Wise Center, above all else, should be a safe place for healing from the trauma suffered by abuse. She and her small but dedicated staff are committed to providing counseling and educational services in an atmosphere of love and acceptance.

Lisa Smith, M.S.
.

Lisa has been with the Wise Center since December 2001. Lisa received her Master’s degree in Psychology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana. Prior to working at the Wise Center, Lisa worked for Alabama Kids’ Choice, Altacare, Spectracare, and numerous other community counseling agencies. Lisa brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her work. She provides individual, couples and family counseling, in addition to teaching the two parenting courses offered at the Wise Center and providing many of the community education programs.

Robbie Treadwell, M.S.
.

Robbie is a recent graduate of Troy University Dothan’s Master’s program in counseling. She spent 20 years in the U.S. Army, which provided her with supervisory and human relations experience prior to obtaining her Master’s degree. Robbie provides individual, couples and family counseling, in addition to teaching anger management classes to children, adolescents and adults.

George Johnson
.

George is a Senior Aide from the Senior Employment Program of the Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission. George is training as an Administrative Assistant. His presence has been invaluable, as the Wise Center was operating without consistent administrative assistance for quite some time
