Originally founded in 1978, the Wise Center for Child Abuse Prevention has grown and expanded its mission over the last 30 years. From its inception, the Wise Center has focused on providing counseling to children who were victims of child abuse and educational programs to help bring awareness to child abuse. Throughout the years, much more has been learned about child abuse. It is now a sad reality that child abuse is an activity passed through generations of families. In an effort to stop this troubling abuse, it is important to recognize where the abuse started.
In order to end the cycle of abuse, the Wise Center decided to attack the problem from all angles. By providing services to current and past child abuse victims, educational programs to bring awareness and information to high risk groups, as well as counseling services to victims of other crimes, the Wise Center is pressing in on all sides of abuse. Without an intervention in the cycle of abuse, there can be no expectation of change.
